IAF helicopter crashes, pilot killed

SRINAGAR: An Indian Air Force helicopter crashed near the Line of Control in Uri sector of J&K on Thursday killing one pilot and injuring another.

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal"><script language="javascript">doweshowbellyad=0; </script><br />SRINAGAR: An Indian Air force helicopter crashed in Uri sector near the Line of Control during a routine sortie on Thursday afternoon. <br /><br />The pilot died in the crash, while the co-pilot sustained serious injuries, a defence spokesman said.<br /><br />Speaking to the Times News Network, the spokesman said, the pilots were undergoing training in hill flying, when the chopper hit bad weather and crashed at forward helipad.<br /><br />The pilot, Sqn Ldr A Tripathi died on the spot while Lt R K Sharma was injured in the mishap.<br /><br />A court of inquiry has been initiated to investigate the mishap, the spokesman said.<br /><br />The injured officer was shifted to the Army hospital here.<br /><br />This is the second air disaster involving IAF within a month.
